منذ قليل تم الإعلان عن جوائز حفل البافتا السنوي لتوزيع جوائز الأفلام يُعرف بحفل توزيع جوائز الأكاديمية البريطانية للأفلام. تمنح الأكاديمية مكافأة لأفضل عمل من أي جنسية يُعرض على شاشات السينما البريطانية خلال العام السابق.
هناك اهتمام ملحوظ لفيلم Blade Runner 2049 الذي تم تهميشه في بقية حفلات الجوائز جنبًا إلى جنب مع فيلم Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool وحضور متكرر لفيلم Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri و The Shape Of Water.
